Albums

Toto’s discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed The members of the band played sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.

Toto’s third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group’s lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old tapes and demos to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings and also an interview with the group.

Toto is an American rock group that was formed in 1977 in Van Nuys, Greater Los Angeles. The group is comprised of Steve Lukather (vocalist/guitarist), David Paich (bassist), Steve Porcaro (keyboardist/vocalist), Jeff Porcaro and Joseph Williams who is a guitarist and vocalist. The diverse mix of influences within the group makes it one of the most well-known groups of all time. The band’s music was featured in more than 200 films and television shows which included The Godfather & The Prince of Egypt.

The album Toto IV released in 1983 received worldwide applause. The band embarked on the world to promote the album following its popularity. The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead singer, was arrested on drug charges. At the conclusion of the tour, the band decided to let him go and hired guitarist/singer Joseph Williams to take his place. Drummer David Hungate also left the band after the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.

The TOTO Museum is a futuristic building with several exhibition rooms dedicated to presenting the story of the company and its most innovative products. Its exhibits include toilets, faucets and tableware that have contributed to the growth of the TOTO brand over the past half century. The museum is home to special exhibits all year round.

Toto has released a number of music videos. The band has also released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the band is “Africa” which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library, where the band performs on top of an African book stack.

Prior to and during the time of Toto’s formation the members of the group worked as session musicians for a wide range of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate played on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to the band’s formation. Paich played keyboards on Steely Dan’s records, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

In 1998, Toto began working on a project titled Old Is New. The album featured three brand new tracks as well as several recordings of songs from the past. The album became a huge hit and the band embarked on a tours to promote it.

Toto was founded in Los Angeles by high school age friends drummer David Paich, guitarist Steve Lukather and brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. The group became one of the most well-known rock bands in the world and has sold over 40 million albums. Toto continues to play sold-out concerts around the world and has received numerous awards and honors. Toto’s members take their music seriously but don’t take themselves all that seriously.
